PLN #2

During my last personal learning network post, I said that there were many pro's and con's emerging from my reserch.  Well, based of off newer research and statistics, my project is going pretty well.  I am beginning to find less and less con's.  One thing that is a constant problem is that once I reaserch statistics, that is my only research other than stories about suicide survivors.  I like the topic because it relates to me a little bit, I dont mean by the suicide part, but I know in the last few years, Arapahoe has experienced some suicides.  I didn't know the girls, but they are still teenagers and they are still people that everyone cares about.  Otherwise, I can't relate to my topic.  I am overall happy with my topic choice and I think I can write a good position paper.  There isn't much more to say, other than it is going well.

Suicide pro's and con's

For my position paper, I decided to research teen suicide's.  I see a few pro's and con's emerging from this topic.  In all of the articles that I have read so far, the same informaton is included, sayng that someone was bullied and they were extremely unhappy with their lives, so they do somethng to hurt themselves.  Another con is that all of the articles are accessable for teenager's to look at.  This could give them an idea if they don't want to talk to anyone about their life, friend, or family problems to hurt themselves.  Besisdes all of the negatives of this topic, there are also a few positives.  Most of the article's online provide readers with suicide hotlines, and people they can talk to.  Also, a list of ideas if they are feeling depressed is included.  I am just getting started with my research, so there isn't much I can say about it right now.  I hope to find alot more needed information in order for my position paper to be effective.  Some thoughts I have regarding more research is to look up statistics and age range of teenagers who committed suicide.  It would be interesting to see if older teens or younger teens committ suicide more often.  Overall, I am happy with my topic and I think there will be alot more interesting information ahead.
